A prolific songwriter, 2019 has seen Marsh tour the world, and release his ‘Soul EP’, alongside collaborative efforts ‘Like You’ and the ‘Prospect EP’, and a remix of Luttrell’s ‘Into Clouds’, all together accruing over 2M streams.
This time around, ‘1992 / Eu Phoria’ sees the Cincinnati-based producer steer his characteristically deep, groove-heavy production into darker waters.
Endorsed by heavyweights like Pete Tong, Above & Beyond, Deadmau5 and Armin van Buuren, Jordi van Achthoven and Micha Heyboer (a.k.a Utrecht-based duo Tinlicker) welcome us to their world with new LP, ‘This Is Not Our Universe’. A melting pot of deep house, progressive and trance, ‘This Is Not Our Universe’ also boasts a lineup of eclectic vocalists.
The album includes an evergreen remix of alt-J’s hit ‘Breezeblocks’, recent single ‘Lost’ feat. Run Rivers, and slow-burning festival smash ‘Need You’ alongside regular collaborator Thomas Oliver. Echoes of Pryda and Timo Maas can be heard on instrumentals ‘The Walk’ and ’Neko’, while fans of the duo’s recent outings on Anjunabeats’ sister label Anjunadeep will enjoy ‘Vanishing’ (feat Run Rivers) and ‘Lullaby’ (feat Helsoot) .
Tinlicker ‘This Is Not Our Universe’ | Continuous MixTinlicker ‘This Is Not Our Universe’ | Continuous Mix“This is actually our first album together. Our characters are quite different. This album is the result of those two different characters and the tension that arises in the search for the balance between the two of us. It is, as it were, a collection of ingredients with which we show that we are happy with the differences between them. The album also represents diversity. Many tracks on the album have the same character but are still different from each other. A nice reflection of how we are as people.”
First heard at Above & Beyond’s annual Miami Music Week party at the Old RC Cola Plant way back in 2017, ‘Hideaway’ emerges from the shadows, a fitting title for an elusive set opener from the globetrotting trio of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki.
Teasing the masses once more, Above & Beyond opened their storied Group Therapy 250 set at The Gorge with ‘Hideaway’. The track subsequently became a regular feature at arena shows across the UK and US during the band’s record breaking ‘Common Ground’ tour. An assertive, cavernous, melodic burner that perfectly set the tone for a very big night of dancing in a very big room.
2018 came and went, still no release! The keyboard detectives on the band’s official Reddit theorised and extrapolated potential reasons. Then comes Anjunabeats Volume 14, the band’s popular two-disc compilation series. There’s ‘Hideaway’, sitting alongside another brand new A&B original, ‘Anjunafamily’.
Now, finally, the band present the full length, extended, ready-to-play mix of ‘Hideaway’, a moody piece of instrumental perfection from the world’s favourite UK dance trio, just in time for the forthcoming season of winter raves in black rooms.
Earlier this year, Above & Beyond performed some of their best-loved songs acoustically as part of a 15-piece band, across four sold out shows at London’s famous Porchester Hall. The response from fans was overwhelming and led to two sold-out nights at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles in October, described by Billboard Magazine as “one of the finest and more memorable shows in EDM history.”
Above & Beyond partnered with THUMP on the production and filming of the London shows to create a concert film that captures the Porchester Hall performances and the story behind the acoustic project. The songs performed at Porchester Hall also form the basis of the “Above & Beyond Acoustic” studio album, which was recorded in the spring and summer of 2013 and features a 24-piece orchestra.
